Changing Moles: Causes, Concerns and Gentle Solutions

Moles are easy to ignore until one day, they’re not. It might be something you’ve had for years that’s been covered up or forgotten. Then suddenly, it looks a little different… or just doesn’t feel quite the same. Having a mole checked by a medical professional is an important first step, especially if it has changed in appearance or feels different.

When a mole has been checked and you’ve been given the all clear, you may be hesitant to explore harsher methods. Thankfully there are gentler options to consider. H-Moles Formula is made with natural ingredients, gentle and easy to use at home.

How can you tell if a mole is concerning?

If you google ‘what does a normal mole look like’, you’ll find articles about symmetry, borders and size and all of a sudden it feels like we’re working out a math equation. What does it even mean when they say ‘borders’?

  • Borders:
What they mean by this is that the border of the mole will be clear. If it's flat it might just be very slightly blurred but it's clear and there nonetheless, raised moles and ones that are bigger in general, have a clear line. Think of your mole like an egg, (bear with me) a normal mole will be a sunny side up egg, a non normal mole will be a bit of a broken egg and the yolk has leaked into the white.

  • Symmetry and asymmetry:
This is the part where most people get confused because how do we draw a line through a mole to see if it's symmetrical? Let’s say you took your mole off of your body and folded it in half, side ways, down ways, any way, do both of the halves look the same? If they would look the same it means they’re symmetrical and if it doesn’t that means it's asymmetrical.

  • Color:
This one never made any sense to me because some moles that are normal have different shades of brown, how do we see a difference here? In the spot of your mole we need to see if it's all the same shade of one color in that specific spot. Moles that are ‘not normal’ will most likely have mixes of different colors in the border. This could look like it's black but it has for example a bit of blue or red too. Your mole should not look like a rainbow.

  • Diameter:
Again, more math that we don’t need right now. This means its size, it should not be bigger than 6mm or if you want to compare it to something, a pencil eraser. If you are unsure I suggest you grab a ruler and just measure it. Normal moles will not get bigger after a certain point. If you've one from birth or childhood they grow in proportion to your body.

  • Evolving:
This includes everything we have just discussed above, but takes it just a little step further now. Is the mole bleeding, crusting, oozing, tender to touch or itchy?

These are just good things to be aware of, but please don’t use this as a way to diagnose yourself. If anything here is ringing a bell, go get it checked out.

Why and how do they change?

Moles change for a number of reasons. One of the reasons is sun exposure. When I told my mom that, nothing could have prepared her for that answer because she loves to sun tan. UV rays are no good for your moles and being exposed makes moles darker and often, new moles appear. Not so mysterious after all.

Another reason is hormonal shifts. Pregnancy, puberty, and menopause all play a role in new mole formations. During times like these our bodies are just working differently. It’s all part of the process, and some moles that appear during this time might not even be a cause for concern or noticeable.

Just as with other living things, moles too have a lifecycle. They form, mature and even grow hair with age. In most cases this is a very normal thing for a mole to go through. What wouldn’t be considered common for a mole is if it changes rapidly over a short period of time, but don’t worry, as soon as you notice it, you have it checked out.

What Do I Do About a Mole?

Until you’ve seen a doctor, nothing. As tempting as it is to watch videos and read comments about how some people have just clipped them off themselves, please do not do that. Going to see a medical professional is beneficial because for one, they do this all the time, and two, they will guide you on the next steps and if you can care for it at home.

Can I get rid of a mole at home?

It’s important to be careful of what you choose to use. The wrong method or product may cause irritation or damage to your skin.

H-Moles Formula is made for home use and designed to be gentle on your skin. It fits easily into your normal routine.

When To See a Doctor About a Mole

Based on all of the above, let me break it down:

  • Sudden changes over a few weeks/months with color, border, size, texture
  • It’s itching, bleeding, oozing, crusting
  • Its new

In all honesty, having peace of mind about a mole is top priority. Once your doctor has given you the all-clear and it’s purely a cosmetic concern at that point, some explore gentle options like H-Moles Formula.
