How to Help Your Body to Cleanse and Detox

Sadly, we are constantly exposed to toxins and pollutants...

These can be in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and of course the products we use on our skin and in our homes.

Over time these toxins and pollutants can accumulate in our bodies and even lead to health issues.

Ideally, we should regularly cleanse and detox our systems.  We share four ways in which we can do this.

Cleansing cucumber and mint facial mist

You will need:

  • One cucumber
  • Handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Two cups filtered water
  • Few drops of Lavender Oil

What you need to do:

  • Wash the cucumber and cut into slices.
  • Rinse the mint leaves under cold water.
  • Combine the cucumber, mint and water in a blender and blend until the form a smooth liquid.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any solids and achieve a fine mist.
  • Pour into a clean spray bottle before adding a few drops of Lavender Oil  for added fragrance and benefits, shaking the bottle to combine.
  • Store in the refrigerator for a cooling effect.
  • To use, close  your eyes and spritz the mist onto your face while holding bottle about six inches away.
  • Another use is to apply the mist to a cotton pad and gently wipe your face with it.

Use the facial mist as part of your skincare routine to refresh and cleanse your skin - especially useful on hot days or after exercising.

Apple cider vinegar and Epsom salts foot soak

You will need:

  • One cup Epsom salts
  • Half a cup of apple cider vinegar (ACV)
  • Warm water to half fill a foot bath
  • Few drops of Lavender Oil

What you need to do:

  • Fill a basin or foot bath with warm water, making sure your feet are covered.
  • Add the cup of Epsom salts, the apple cider vinegar and the few drops of Lavender Oil.
  • Stir the ingredients in the mixture until dissolved.
  • Sit back and relax while you soak your feet for fifteen to twenty minutes.  While soaking, gently massage your feet to help relieve tension and improve circulation.
  • Then rinse your feet with warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.

Follow up with a natural moisturizer such as Simply Body Oil to keep your feet soft and hydrated.

Super green detox juice

You will need:

  • Two cups spinach
  • One cucumber
  • Two celery stalks
  • One green apple
  • One inch piece of ginger
  • One lemon, peeled
  • Handful of parsley
  • Optional - small piece of turmeric root which should be peeled and cut into smaller pieces.

What you need to do:

  • Wash the fruit and veggies.
  • Cut the cucumber, celery and apple into chunks.
  • Peel the ginger and cut into small pieces.
  • Cut the lemon into quarters, removing any seeds.
  • Rinse the parsley, removing any tough stems.
  • Feed all the ingredients through a juicer, alternating between leafy greens and those harder veggies and fruits.
  • Stir the juice well to combine the flavors.
  • Pour the juice into glasses and serve immediately, over ice if desired.

Simple early morning apple cider vinegar

You will need:

  • One tablespoon of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with "mother")
  • Half a cup of warm water
  • One teaspoon of honey or maple syrup for sweetness.

What you will need to do:

  • Pour the apple cider vinegar into a glass of warm water before adding the honey or maple syrup.
  • Stir the mixture well until fully dissolved.
  • Drink the apple cider vinegar first thing in the morning on an empty stomach before consuming anything else.
  • Take care to rinse your mouth with plain water after taking the early morning apple cider vinegar to protect your teeth enamel.

Always make sure to dilute apple cider vinegar with water before consuming as otherwise it can be harsh on the throat and stomach lining.
